Medication math should be transparent and double-checked. Carboplatin Calculator shows the reference calculation built into this plugin, while leaving the prescribing decision where it belongs—with the clinician and current product guidance.
What this calculator does
Carboplatin Calculator uses Sex, Age, Weight, Serum creatinine, and Target AUC to calculate Calvert carboplatin dose. Where supported, it also shows Estimated GFR/CrCl used so the primary result is easier to check. It follows the exact field flow and engine behavior in this plugin rather than describing a different calculator with the same name. Medication calculations are reference math, not prescriptions. Indication, formulation, route, kidney/liver function, interacting medicines, allergies, maximum doses, and clinician-selected regimens can change the correct dose.
How to use it
Enter or select Sex, Age, Weight, Serum creatinine, and Target AUC. Confirm weight units, formulation/strength, route, and dose units before reading the result. If an entry is unknown, do not substitute a guess simply to obtain a number.
How the calculation works
The calculator estimates creatinine clearance with Cockcroft–Gault, multiplies by 0.85 for females, caps the value used at 125 mL/min, and then applies the Calvert formula: carboplatin dose (mg) = target AUC × (GFR/CrCl used + 25).
Example
Using the sample values prefilled in this calculator, the primary result is 513.9 mg (Carboplatin dose (Calvert)) and Estimated GFR/CrCl used is 77.8 mL/min. This example demonstrates the plugin’s own calculation path; replace the sample inputs with verified values before interpreting a real result.
How to interpret the result
The result is a Calvert-formula dose using the kidney-function estimate implemented here. Oncology teams should confirm the GFR method, AUC target, cap, laboratory values, and protocol before administration.
Limitations and notes
The Calvert equation was developed using measured GFR; this plugin substitutes Cockcroft–Gault CrCl and caps it at 125 mL/min. Oncology protocols may specify a particular GFR method/cap, target AUC, renal adjustment, and hematologic monitoring. Carboplatin dosing must be verified by the treating oncology team.
