Pediatric calculations reward careful attention to age, weight, and units. Exclusive Pumping Calculator uses only the child-specific fields shown in this tool to produce its estimate.
What this calculator does
Exclusive Pumping Calculator uses Milk intake input, Baby’s age, Baby’s weight, Number of feedings in a day, Milk pumped per day, Milk needed per day, Do you want to add a buffer, and the remaining fields shown to calculate exclusive-pumping milk need or stash shortfall. Where supported, it also shows Daily need with buffer and Daily shortfall so the primary result is easier to check. It follows the exact field flow and engine behavior in this plugin rather than describing a different calculator with the same name. Children are not simply small adults: age, weight, gestational history, formulation, and clinical setting can change how a result should be used. Pediatric outputs deserve extra attention to units and the population for which the method was developed.
How to use it
Enter or select Milk intake input, Baby’s age, Baby’s weight, Number of feedings in a day, Milk pumped per day, Milk needed per day, and the remaining fields shown. Use the units offered by the calculator and keep paired laboratory or treatment values from the same clinical episode whenever the formula assumes that. If an entry is unknown, do not substitute a guess simply to obtain a number.
How the calculation works
In estimated-intake mode, milk need is weight multiplied by the selected age-band mL/kg/day factor, with per-feed volume calculated from feeding frequency. In known-intake mode, the tool can add a 10% buffer, calculate daily pumping shortfall, project that shortfall over the age interval, and subtract any existing freezer stash.
Example
Using the sample values prefilled in this calculator, the primary result is 0 mL (Additional milk stash needed), Daily need with buffer is 825 mL/day, and Daily shortfall is 0 mL/day. This example demonstrates the plugin’s own calculation path; replace the sample inputs with verified values before interpreting a real result.
How to interpret the result
Read the output as additional milk stash needed from this pediatric method. Age, weight, measurement quality, gestational history, and the child’s clinical state determine whether the number is useful or needs a different validated pathway.
Limitations and notes
Milk production and intake vary day to day. Freezer-stash projections assume a stable daily shortfall and do not account for changing intake, solids, supply, storage loss, or pumping changes.
