What this calculator does
It estimates total keystrokes and keystrokes per hour from the visible inputs.
How the calculation works
Keystrokes = words × average keystrokes per word. Keystrokes per hour = keystrokes ÷ elapsed minutes × 60.
Example
With 500 words, 10 minutes, and 5 keystrokes per word, the result is 500 × 5 ÷ 10 × 60 = 15,000 keystrokes per hour, or 50 words per minute.
How to interpret the result
More typed words or more keystrokes per word increases KPH, while more elapsed time lowers it.
Limitations and notes
The result is a throughput estimate. Real typing tests may define a “word” differently and may adjust for errors or corrected keystrokes.
