Pediatric calculations reward careful attention to age, weight, and units. Pediatric Blood Pressure Calculator uses only the child-specific fields shown in this tool to produce its estimate.
What this calculator does
Pediatric Blood Pressure Calculator uses Age, Sex, Height, Systolic BP, and Diastolic BP to calculate approximate pediatric BP percentile. Where supported, it also shows SBP percentile, DBP percentile, and Height so the primary result is easier to check. It follows the exact field flow and engine behavior in this plugin rather than describing a different calculator with the same name. Children are not simply small adults: age, weight, gestational history, formulation, and clinical setting can change how a result should be used. Pediatric outputs deserve extra attention to units and the population for which the method was developed.
How to use it
Enter or select Age, Sex, Height, Systolic BP, and Diastolic BP. Use the units offered by the calculator and keep paired laboratory or treatment values from the same clinical episode whenever the formula assumes that. If an entry is unknown, do not substitute a guess simply to obtain a number.
How the calculation works
The current engine estimates systolic and diastolic percentiles from simplified age- and sex-adjusted means and fixed standard deviations, then reports the higher of the two. Height is displayed but the complete AAP age/sex/height percentile tables are not implemented.
Example
Using the sample values prefilled in this calculator, the primary result is 50% (Approximate BP percentile), SBP percentile is 30.9%, and DBP percentile is 50%. This example demonstrates the plugin’s own calculation path; replace the sample inputs with verified values before interpreting a real result.
How to interpret the result
Treat this output as an approximate percentile display only. Do not label a child hypertensive or normotensive from this result; use validated AAP tables/cut points and repeated proper measurements.
Limitations and notes
This calculator is a simplified approximation and does NOT reproduce the AAP age/sex/height BP tables. Pediatric hypertension classification requires proper cuff technique, repeat auscultatory measurements, and guideline cut points; adolescents ≥13 years use different thresholds.
