A finance formula can look precise even when the assumptions behind it are doing most of the work. VA Disability Calculator keeps those assumptions visible and turns the fields on this page into one focused result. On this page, it is intended to combine multiple VA disability ratings, including an optional bilateral pair.
What this calculator does
VA Disability Calculator is intended to combine multiple VA disability ratings, including an optional bilateral pair. Its visible inputs are Individual VA disability ratings (%), Ratings in one bilateral pair, optional (%), Monthly compensation at final rating, Dependent addition. The article follows those fields and the calculation that is actually available on this page; it does not silently add live market feeds, tax tables, legal eligibility tests, or other variables that are not present in the tool.
How to use it
Enter Individual VA disability ratings (%), Ratings in one bilateral pair, optional (%), Monthly compensation at final rating, Dependent addition. Use the units and percentage scale shown beside each field, and keep values on the same time basis when the formula compares income, rates, prices, balances, or work hours.
How the calculation works
VA “whole person” math combines ratings by repeatedly applying each percentage to remaining efficiency; a qualifying bilateral pair receives a 10% bilateral factor before the final combined value is rounded to the nearest 10%. The current visible rating fields are not correctly connected to that calculation, so the displayed default result is not reliable.
Example
With the current demonstration values (Individual VA disability ratings (%) = 50, 30; Ratings in one bilateral pair, optional (%) = 20, 10; Monthly compensation at final rating = 0; Dependent addition = 0), the page shows 0% for combined-rating estimate. Because that conflicts with the nonzero values already visible on the form, treat this example as evidence of the limitation—not as a valid financial result.
How to interpret the result
Interpret the output according to the metric being calculated: a ratio, score, exchange relationship, chart level, safety incidence rate, or cost comparison. It is best for consistent measurement and scenario comparison, not for turning one metric into a complete business or investment decision.
Limitations and notes
The current default result is 0% even though the visible rating lists contain nonzero percentages. VA combined-rating and compensation rules are governed by current VA regulations and rate tables. Even after the field connection is fixed, the monthly compensation amount must be checked against the current VA table and dependency status. This tool uses the data you enter and does not independently validate the underlying source, legal classification, market quote, accounting treatment, or workplace recordability decision. A clean calculation can still be wrong if the source data or definition is wrong.
