Heart and vascular calculations often combine several measurements that are easy to misread in isolation. DAPT Calculator keeps those inputs together and shows the result the implemented model is designed to produce.
What this calculator does
DAPT Calculator uses Age, Diabetes, Prior PCI or MI, MI at presentation, Stent diameter < 3 mm, Vein graft stent, CHF or LVEF < 30%, and the remaining fields shown to calculate DAPT score. It is built around the exact fields displayed in this plugin rather than a generic version of the topic. Where supported, it also shows Age points so the primary result is easier to place in context. Cardiovascular formulas are sensitive to measurement technique and clinical context. A mathematically correct output can still be misleading if the input was obtained under a different physiologic condition, with a different assay, or outside the population for which the score was developed.
How to use it
Complete the requested fields, including Age, Diabetes, Prior PCI or MI, MI at presentation, Stent diameter < 3 mm, and Vein graft stent, then finish the remaining items shown in the calculator. Confirm that each yes/no, category, date, or score option is applied exactly as labeled. When the formula combines measurements, use values obtained under the same assessment or physiologic conditions whenever possible.
How the calculation works
The DAPT score is a point sum. Diabetes, prior PCI or MI, MI at presentation, a stent diameter under 3 mm, a paclitaxel-eluting stent, and current/recent smoking each add one point; CHF or LVEF below 30% and a vein-graft stent each add two. Age 65–74 subtracts one point and age 75 or older subtracts two. The calculator labels scores of 2 or more as the higher-score range.
Example
Using the sample values prefilled in this calculator, the primary result is 0 points (Low DAPT score — prolonged DAPT may offer less net benefit) and Age points is 0. This worked example shows how the plugin’s own default inputs flow through the implemented method; replace them with the correct patient, laboratory, imaging, or personal values before interpreting a result.
How to interpret the result
A score of 2 or more falls into the calculator’s higher DAPT-score range; below 2 is the lower range. This describes the balance observed in the DAPT derivation population, where higher scores tended to identify more potential ischemic benefit relative to bleeding harm from prolonged therapy.
Limitations and notes
The DAPT score was developed to help weigh ischemic benefit against bleeding harm when considering extended dual-antiplatelet therapy after coronary stenting in selected patients. It is not designed to decide initial DAPT duration in every patient, and bleeding history, stent context, new evidence, and current cardiology guidance can outweigh the score.
