Sleep Calculator

minutes

A sleep score is most helpful when you know what went into it. Sleep Calculator keeps the questionnaire or timing calculation straightforward and interpretable.

What this calculator does

If you know when you need to wake up, this calculator works backward to suggest bedtimes based on complete 90-minute sleep-cycle blocks plus the time you expect to need to fall asleep. Sleep questionnaires and indices are screening or descriptive tools; symptoms, sleep opportunity, and formal sleep testing may add information that the score cannot capture.

How to use it

Enter how long you usually need to fall asleep and the time you want to wake. The calculator then works backward to show suggested bedtimes for four, five, and six 90-minute cycles.

How the calculation works

The engine subtracts the entered sleep latency and then subtracts four, five, or six blocks of 90 minutes from the target wake time. It displays the corresponding suggested bedtimes for those cycle counts.

Example

For the sample values prefilled in this calculator, the primary result is 11:15 PM (Suggested bedtime (5 cycles)), 4 cycles is 12:45 AM, and 5 cycles is 11:15 PM. This example is there to show how the inputs flow through the implemented equation; replace the sample values with your own measurements before using the result.

How to interpret the result

The times are planning prompts, not biologic deadlines. They can help you compare possible schedules and protect enough time in bed instead of choosing a bedtime by guesswork.

Limitations and notes

Human sleep cycles are not fixed at exactly 90 minutes and vary across the night and between people. This tool does not calculate individual sleep need, sleep quality, insomnia, shift-work effects, or sleep disorders. Consistent adequate sleep time matters more than trying to wake at a mathematically perfect cycle boundary.
