What this calculator does

The Army Fitness Test, or AFT, is the current five-event U.S. Army fitness test introduced in 2025. This calculator provides an estimate from the five performance values shown and checks its stored general or combat passing rule. Fitness-test scores depend on the exact event rules and scoring tables in force at the time, so historical and current standards should be kept separate.

How to use it

Enter or select the requested values, including Age group, AFT standard, Sex, Maximum deadlift weight, Hand-release push-ups, and Sprint-drag-carry time. Complete the remaining fields shown in the calculator before reading the result.

How the calculation works

The engine converts maximum deadlift, hand-release push-ups, sprint-drag-carry time, plank time, and two-mile run time into points by interpolating across its built-in score anchors. It then sums the five event scores. In this implementation, the general standard requires at least 60 points per event and 300 total; the combat option requires at least 60 per event and 350 total.

For the sample values prefilled in this calculator, the primary result is 408.4 points (Pass), Minimum total is 300, and Per-event minimum is 60. This example is there to show how the inputs flow through the implemented equation; replace the sample values with your own measurements before using the result.

How to interpret the result

The total gives a quick estimate of performance under the scoring model implemented here. Review the event-level points as well as the total, because a passing total cannot compensate for an event that falls below the calculator’s minimum.

Limitations and notes

Official Army scoring is governed by current age- and sex-specific AFT standards and policy. The age-group and sex fields are shown in this calculator, but the current interpolation engine does not yet use them to select official age/sex scoring tables. Treat the score as an estimate and verify official scores with current Army resources.
